The Presidential Press Conference

I am a reporter. Myself, along with several other reporters are given a briefing by President Obama. We discuss what we will ask during the press conference and detail the strategy we will take. Everyone is in agreement as to how this will go and we gather up our booklets, paper and pens and head to the conference room. The teleprompter is ready and we begin.

But President Obama goes totally off script, pays no attention to the teleprompter and does not answer any of our questions. In fact, her barely acknowledges anything that we discussed in the briefing beforehand and continues on strangely as if we never met before hand.

We are completely out done by his behavior and at a loss for words/questions. He quickly ends the press conference and dismisses us all. We are all flabbergasted that he would pull this stunt. It was bad enough that we had been briefed about what we could or could not ask. We already knew that his answers to our questions were scripted, but we did not expect him to go completely off script and then dismiss us so abruptly without even allowing us to ask our prepared questions.

We simply gathered our belongings and left.
